Direct Quotations and Gender
In writing quotations, you may find yourself using a direct quotation
which employs the so-called generic man:
"Man is by nature a political animal" (Aristotle).
If you are troubled by the use of the generic term, recast the
statement in an indirect quotation or paraphrase.
