Accept/ Except
Accept is a verb meaning "to receive": "I will accept this gift on behalf
of my people."
Except is a preposition meaning "excluding": "I will accept all your
conditions except that one."
Occasionally "except" is used as a verb meaning "to exclude":
"If you except the last page, it's a great book."
