Latvian Old Believers’ Society

"The Mutual Help, Charity and Education Society of Old Believers" was founded in Riga in 1908. The beginning of war in 1914 interrupted the Societie’s activities.
In 1923 the statutes were changed, and the Society existed until 1940 as "The Old Believers’ Society in Latvia".

The anewal meeting of "The Latvian Old Believers’ Society" took place in Riga in 1994, where the new statutes were accepted and the board was elected.
The Society was re-registered in 1998 in Latvia Republic Enterprises Register.

The Society joins 40 people from Riga, Daugavpils, Rezekne, Preili etc., who represent various social groups and who are related to the orthodox tradition by their origins, belief.

The goals of the Society are: charity, mutual help, education.
The Society carries out various programmes and projects:


Before the 7th elections of Latvian Parliament (Saeima) the Society published "The Russian Voter’s Guide"
The board chairman of the Latvian Old Believers’ Society is Illarion Ivanov, board secretary - Arhip Stepanov - Kudrjasov.
